Inspired by the Tibetan buddhist practice called “Tonglen” (literally “giving and receiving”), in this meditation we cultivate the inner strength, spaciousness and equanimity that sustain our compassion. The practice works by mentally taking away from others their suffering and negative internal states, and offering them relief by sharing our own resources and positive qualities.
